This album began with a casual request: John knew a traditional tune, The South Wind, that fit our set but needed more substance. Could Mark weave it into an original song—creating a “tradiginal”? Two days later, Mark delivered… unknowingly setting himself up for more requests. John knew plenty of tunes, and soon, a full album of ten such songs took shape. We aimed for balance—fast and slow, light and serious, with varied instrumentation—while staying true to British folk traditions. Our goal: to honour and evolve this heritage for modern times. We hope you enjoy these songs as much as we did creating them.
